16 Nov Fuquay-Varina Ruck Club Partners with Travis Manion Foundation and American Legion Post 116 to Deliver Care Packages to Ensure No Veteran is Forgotten in Fuquay-Varina, NC
During the month of November, the Fuquay-Varina Ruck Club & Adventure Team, in partnership with Fuquay Coworking, the American Legion Post 116, Empowered Ideas, and the Travis Manion Foundation, organized an #OperationLegacy Project to provide Care Packages to sick and aging Veterans in the Fuquay-Varina, NC area.
In total, 325 pounds of donations were collected during a 2-week period, which supplied 25 Care Packages for this project.

In addition, this project honors the life and legacy of Apex, NC native, Sgt. Lance O. Eakes (1982-2008), 105th Military Police Battalion, 1132nd Military Police Company, North Carolina Army National Guard.
“Lance loved life to the fullest. He was devoted and loyal to his family and friends. Once 9-11 happened, there was only one thing he knew he had to do, and that was to join the Army – to help protect his country and his family. He volunteered for two tours and gave the ultimate sacrifice on 4/18/08.
Through the years since his death, many family, friends, brothers, and sisters from his unit, have shared with us how good of a listener, joker, and good hearted amazing man he was. We miss him dearly, but know we will see him again in heaven one day. Thank you all for continuing to help us to Remember and Honor him.” — John and Tammy Eakes
Special THANKS to Scott Quilty for being our American Legion liaison here at Fuquay Coworking, and to Chick-fil-A Fuquay Varina, Clay Hamilton-State Farm Agent, and Empowered Ideas, for their generous donations of items and gift cards.
And a HUGE THANKS to the MANY volunteers that made this project a huge success, especially the Ruckers that braved 6.12 miles in the cold to complete the Challenge portion of this project. 😎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
